Omaha police and fire officials are sorting through the details of a call made for help around 7:35 this morning. Both firefighters and Omaha officers were dispatched to an apartment building at 41st and Hamilton Streets for a stabbing. The caller stated that a neighbor had been stabbed and someone was pouring gasoline on someone else inside.
When officers arrived they had to force their way inside and reported a fire. That is when firefighters took over to battle the blaze and had it under control in about 15 minutes. Once inside officers located two adult males. Both were transported to an Omaha hospital and then to St. Elizabeth’s Burn Center in Lincoln.
Shortly after officers gained entry to the apartment the situation quickly unfolded and one officer fired his weapon and another officer deployed a Taser. They have not been able to determine if the intended target was struck by gunfire. No police officers or firefighters were injured.
The Officer Involved Investigation Team along with forensic investigators are at the scene. Addition information will be released as it becomes available.
