Agency spokeswoman Sue Thesenga says May is Trauma Awareness Month.
Thesenga says, “It comes at an important time for the Red Cross because right now blood products are being sent to hospitals as quickly as donations are coming in.”
She notes, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds.
“A single car accident victim may need up to 100 units of blood and we kind of forget about that,” Thesenga says.
Donors of all blood types are needed. To find a blood drive nearest you, visit the agency’s website.
