Optimism abounds as Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst and football coach Mike Riley embark on a seven-city tour around the state to talk Husker football.
Nebraska is coming off a 6-7 record in Riley’s first season as head coach. Riley is confident the program will make strides and says his initial season allowed him to see something special here.
“I think the values around this school, this program and this state are all about kids and family and it plays itself out at events like our football games”, said Riley. “You don’t find too many people that are opponents fans or our fans who have bad experiences.”
Eichorst says it’s important to get out of Lincoln and visit with Husker fans.
“We want to be a little bit louder with our message”, said Eichorst. “We have such an incredible amount of good things going on in Lincoln that we need to continue to remind our good folks across the state how good we have it, not only at the University with its leadership and its trajectory but also the athletics department.”
The tour travels to York, Columbus, Kearney, Lexington, North Platte, and Omaha.
