Omaha center Fielder Bret Eibner slammed three home runs, including two in a 10-run fifth inning, as the Storm Chasers rolled to a 15-5 victory over the Memphis Redbirds at Werner Park.
“I started slow and once I get rolling things usually turn out pretty good”, said Eibner. “I am just trying to stay consistent and go out every day and put together good at bats.”
In total, 15 batters came to plate during the prolonged inning, which also included eight hits. The last time Omaha had scored ten or more runs in an inning came in the final year at Rosenblatt Stadium on August 30, 2010 with an 11-run third inning against the Round Rock Express. That was also the last occurrence of an Omaha player smacking two homers in a single inning when current Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas accomplished that feat as part of an 11-RBI game.
