With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, walking Nebraska standout MJ Knighten was not an option for Louisville. The junior responded with a single up the middle to drive in the game winner as the Huskers beat Louisville 3-2 in an NCAA Regional in Columbia, Missouri.
The Huskers advance to play 15th ranked Missouri this afternoon. The winner of that game will advance to the championship round.
“It just builds. It’s like a domino effect”, said Knighten. It just keeps building and building and building. It’s just a great feeling out on the field knowing that everyone has each other’s back and we all are there for one other. We’re just all in and you can just feel it on the field, so it’s great.”
Offensively, Knighten was one of three Huskers who finished with multiple hits. The junior was 2-for-4 with one RBI, her 60th of the season. Senior Kiki Stokes was 2-for-3 with a walk and sophomore Laura Barrow went 2-for-3 as well. Sophomore Madi Unzicker homered and drove in two runs for Nebraska.
