If you are looking for something fun to do this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, head to the Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum near Ashland on Saturday. Marketing and P.R. Director Deb Hermann says it is their annual Helicopter Day.
Hermann says, “It is one of the biggest events we have throughout the year. This year we are actually doing it on Memorial Day weekend, May 28th so whether you are traveling to do some camping next to us or doing a “stay-cation”, the helicopter event is one to see for sure.”
Ten helicopters will arrive at the museum starting at 10 a.m. Visitors can talk to the pilots, check out their helicopters and even pay to take an 8 minute ride.
There are many events inside the museum as well. The Henry Doorly Zoo will be bringing in animals. There is a drone workshop on flight and safety. There are free helicopter balloon sculptors, make and take projects and a special demonstration by the Museum’s Mad Scientist. The theater will also be open and showings include Crazy Engineering: Mars Helicopter and The Future Goes Viral.
Helicopter Day events will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
