A Public Service District race has been decided after a recount.
According to Sec. of State John Gale, Mary Ridder of Callaway won the May primary by 46 votes. She defeated fellow Republican Jerry Vap of McCook in the Public Service District 5 race. Ridder won 21,925 votes and Vap won 21,879; a difference of 46 votes.
The race was the only one authorized for a recount.
The Nebraska Canvassing Board voted to approve the updated numbers and incorporate them into the final report Monday.
Turnout for the May primary was 27% of the 1,165,308 registered Nebraska voters. Early voters accounted for 19% of that total, according to the Sec. of State’s office.
