Worldlawn Power Equipment is buying the former Husqvarna Turf Care Manufacturing Company building in Beatrice.
Gage Area Growth Enterprise Executive Director Walker Zulkoski says there was a lot of interest in the 275,000 square foot structure and the community is fortunate to have a local manufacturer secure the space.
Worldlawn makes outdoor power equipment for commercial and residential applications. The company president released a statement saying it’s a “great opportunity to invest in the community.”
The company lists its employment at more than 25 people and plans to increase staffing in management, engineering, sales and marketing. Zulkoski says the building has been empty for several years and will need some repair work done.
Worldlawn and Encore occupy a 100,000 square foot building in the Gage County Industrial Park. The new building acquisition will allow for diversification, expansion, warehousing and meeting the company’s long-term goals.
The timeline for an expansion is still being finalized. Worldlawn was established in California in 2004 and started operations in Beatrice in 2011.
Husqvarna shut down operations at the Beatrice plant in 2010 after being in Beatrice for about ten years and employed nearly 400 workers.
