Kids across the state are having a ball playing Pokémon Go but there are some issues that parents need to be aware of. Jim Hegarty is president of the Better Business Bureau – Nebraska and says along with the safety issues kids could be racking up quite a bill.
Hegarty says the game comes with in-app purchases. if there is a credit card associated with the phone account kids could be racking up a bill. He also warns parents to watch their data plans so children are not exceeding the limit. That could result in a costly bill.
Hegarty says criminals have already figured out a way to rip players or potential players off. He says, “There is a malware version of this. Make sure you go to the app store to get the legitimate game. Do not download the game from a link you have received through email or text message as those are the versions that contain malware that can do all kinds of nasty stuff to you.”
