With receivers coach Keith Williams absent from practice graduate assistant coach Hardie Buck has stepped in to leading the Nebraska receiving corps. The former Alabama receiver is in his second year with the Husker program and has also spent time on the staffs at Jacksonville State and Oregon State.
Williams has not returned to practice since his drunk driving arrest this past weekend.
“Coming from Alabama he is a real fiery guy and likes to get after it”, said Husker senior receiver Jordan Westerkamp. “He is awesome and is great to have out there.”
Offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf says Buck assisted Williams with the receivers last year when he was a graduate manager for the Huskers.
“He is really and good technician”, said Langsdorf. “He will get some experience and is a smart and knowledgeable guy that will do a good job for us right now.”
Husker coach Mike Riley said after practice that no decision has been made on Williams’ status with the program and there was nothing to announce.
“We are still exploring and talking and finding out as much as we can”, said Riley. “When I do it will be definitive and that will be it.”
