A man in Omaha is hospitalized for evaluation after causing unwanted excitement at Eppley Airfield around 9:30 Thursday evening. Eppley Airfield Police Chief Tim Connahan says it started near the parking garage with a man shouting that someone was trying to hurt or kill him.
The suspect then then took off running and climbed a security fence into a construction zone and stripped down to his boxer shorts. Connahan says, “He found an unlocked and running pickup truck belonging to Southwest Airlines. He drove under the jet bridge of jet bridge 16 and ran head-on into the nose gear of a Southwest flight parked at gate 17.”
The man is identified as 35 year old Delairo Koonce. Connahan says the man was taken into custody and then to a hospital for an evaluation. There were passengers waiting to board the plane when the crash happened but no one was seriously hurt.
