Nebraska defensive coordinator Mark Banker says handing out Blackshirts was a more enjoyable process on Tuesday. A total of 13 Huskers received Blackshirts prior to practice and a former member of the club was there to address them.
“The addition this year was the fact that we had John Parrella, a former Blackshirt”, said Banker. “We had him come up in front of the group and tell them from a players perspective what it meant.”
Parrella is in his first season as the Husker’s defensive line coach. A total of five linebackers received Blackshirts.
“It is an accumulation of time and effort. What they did for the program last season, how they progressed in the offseason and what they have done going forward here in camp.”
