The Omaha Police Department is conducting an investigation into an officer involved shooting Tuesday afternoon at 24th and Q Streets. Around 3:40 p.m., members of the Fugitive Warrants Division of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department were serving a felony warrant to 25 year old David Anderson for possession of a controlled substance.
As deputies tried to take Anderson into custody shots were fired. Deputies issued a “help and officer” call that sent other law enforcement agencies to the area to assist. Anderson was struck by gunfire and was rushed to a hospital where he later died.
The deputies are on paid administrative leave as the investigation into the incident continues.
