There is a new tool in place at Nebraska Medicine to help parents who suffer the loss of an infant. Tracy Pella donated a Cuddle Cot system after losing one of her twin boys shortly after birth in 2014.
Pella is the President and Co-Found of Connected Forever and says, “Families that lose an infant have just a limited amount of time with their baby. By providing the Cuddle Cot is to bring comfort and peace to families at that time.” After losing her son Pella says that extra gift of time is very important to her.
The cuddle cot is a crib cooling device that is placed in the bottom of a basket or cradle. Cool water is circulated through a pad to cool the body. The device lengthens the amount of time that parents can spend with their baby.
Officials with Nebraska Medicine hope the device makes a big difference in the families that lost a child.
