Two people are being held in what now is a murder investigation in northeastern Nebraska.
Dakota County Attorney Kim Watson reports a medical examination confirms remains found in rural Dixon County are those of 41-year-old Kraig Kubik, a resident of neighboring Dakota County.
The Nebraska State Patrol first reported a suspicious death was under investigation near Emerson. The patrol along with the Dakota and Dixon County Sheriff’s Offices as well as the Dakota County Attorney began an investigation.
Watson says two persons of interest are being held in the Dakota County Jail, pending a decision on whether charges will be filed against them. No information on their identity is being released.
Investigators continue to gather evidence in rural Dixon County where Kubik’s remains were found. They also are searching for additional human remains.
Kubik was last seen Tuesday night, around 8:30, at his residence near Emerson. A preliminary investigation suspects an altercation began at Kubik’s home and he was forced out of his house and driven to Dixon County where he was murdered.
