Now that Halloween is a week behind us, many Nebraska retailers are shifting their focus to holiday sales and Black Friday.
Sara Skirboll, spokeswoman for the coupon site Retail Me Not.com, says studies find a majority of the Husker State’s shoppers plan to fork over more cash this season compared to a year ago.
“Sixty-one-percent of shoppers plan to spend more money this season,” Skirboll says. “In fact, one-in-three shoppers are planning to spend at least $200 or more per person.”
Skirboll says a number of businesses are already offering discounts.
She says however, if you’re in the market for new electronics, wait until Black Friday or Cyber Monday as that’s when you’ll see the best discounts for those items.
“Electronics and computers hit their peak discount between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday,” Skirboll says. “So, the average discount is around 38 to 40% off. So definitely wait for electronics and big appliances around that time.”
Black Friday revenues continue to grow every year, hitting two-point-seven billion dollars in the single shopping day last year.
