The top three spots in the latest volleyball coaches poll are occupied by Big Ten teams. That includes top ranked and defending national champion Nebraska which leads the conference race with a 13-1 record.
“It is a very tough conference so you better just focus on one match at a time”, said Nebraska coach John Cook. “I have been talking to our players about this since spring because I knew this would be a challenging conference.”
Minnesota is ranked second and Wisconsin third. Penn State at number 10 is the fourth league team in the top ten while Michigan State is 15th and Michigan is 17th. The Huskers host an improved Iowa team on Wednesday night that is seventh in the Big Ten and 18-8 overall.
“They are a team that I don’t know if they are thinking they have got a shot at the NCAA Tournament but they should be. They have got to be one of the most improved teams in the conference this year and I am telling you everybody is good in this conference.”
