A 47-year-old Stromsburg man has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for attempting to solicit sex from a minor girl via text.
U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says William Rich was sentenced by Federal Judge Laurie Smith Camp for Using a Facility and Means of Interstate Commerce to Attempt to Persuade, Induce, and Entice a Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity. Rich will have to serve 10 years of supervised release after serving his prison term.
In late 2015, an undercover officer received text communications from Rich in which he sought to engage a minor girl in sexual activity. Officers arrested Rich after he traveled from Stromsburg to La Vista to meet with the girl.
