It was a very close race for the Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District but Republican Don Bacon won the election with 49% of the vote.

Bacon stated “I want to thank the citizens of the Second District for the confidence and the trust you put in me. I am going to work my hardest to live up to that trust.  I am committed to serving and put my loyalties to citizens of this district first and our Constitution.”

Bacon says we have a bureaucracy that is killing our small business and we have to reign them in. We also have to re-establish the checks and balances system that our founders so carefully put in place.  Bacon also wants to work to reduce spending and work on the debt and deficit.  He also wants to work on the tax code and to fix a broken business and corporate tax code.  He also wants to be a strong voice for the men and women in uniform.

Bacon had kind words for his opponent, Congressman Brad Ashford. Bacon stated, “He is an honorable man.  I watched his speech today and teared up and I could feel what he was feeling.  I committed to him that first I will support his efforts as he wraps up his tenure to work on the clinic at the VA as well as the Medical Center.”
