As bad as the last two weeks were Maryland coach DJ Durkin says his team still has plenty to play for in the final two weeks of the season. The Terrapins were outscored 121-6 in losses to Michigan and Ohio State but at 5-5 need only a win at Nebraska or against Rutgers next week to become bowl eligible in Durkin’s first season.
“This season still has a chance to be a tremendous success for us it really does”, said Durkin. “We need to go finish strong and play well.”
Maryland’s post season hopes may ride on the injured shoulder of senior quarterback Perry Hills, who has been knocked out of the past two games. Durkin says he is day-to-day as they prepare for the Huskers.
“We will determine what gives us the best chance to win on Saturday and if that is with Perry in the lineup then that is what we will do. That will be solely based on what his health is.”
If Hills can’t play Caleb Rowe will get the start under center.
