Senior Day will have added emotion at Nebraska when the Huskers host Maryland. A class of 30 seniors will be recognized during a pregame ceremony, including the family of Sam Foltz. The Huskers All-Big Ten punter was killed in a car accident in July.
“It is going to be a tough moment for us”, said tight end Trey Foster. “He made the most out of what he had and was a great dude who showed us how to work hard and do things the right way. It’s going to be tough.”
Nearly half of the senior class, including offensive lineman Dylan Utter, began their Nebraska career as a walk-on and would become key contributors.
“We never really saw ourselves that much different than the scholarship players other than getting our school paid for”, said Utter. “The special thing about Nebraska is you are never out of the loop and treated like a walk-on. There is nothing holding you back.”
With a victory on Saturday the Huskers would finish the season unbeaten at home for the first time since 2012.
