Senator Sasse the Uber driver and looking at Trump’s priorities

November 18, 2016 By Karla James

It is hard to second guess President Elect Donald Trump but Senator Ben Sasse says it is looking like he has four priorities. Sasse says, “He has talked obviously about border security.  He has talked about tax reform.  He has talked about repeal and replace of Obamacare and then infrastructure issues.”

Sasse believes he will probably lead in those four domains but doesn’t know how he will rank and order them. He says there are probably ten other things that are on the edge of what they may go to first.  Sasse is hoping that Obamacare is the first issue to be addressed.

Sasse has been in the news lately after some Uber passengers were surprised to find that their driver was a U.S. senator. Sasse says, “I’ve been doing work field tours pretty much since I started this job.  I’ll drive tractor for somebody during planting and harvest.  My five year old and twelve year old and I were out feeding cattle before dawn two weeks ago.  The Uber thing – we had no press strategy at all.  I was just trying to learn more about ride sharing and the disintermediation in the economy from Uber to Lyft to Air B&B and a lot of changes coming to people’s jobs.”

Sasse says the money he earned while driving for Uber will go to charity.
