Creighton coach Greg McDermott wants to see the Bluejays attack the rim on Tuesday night when they host Buffalo. Creighton was just five of 18 from three point range in Saturday’s 82-52 win over Loyola of Maryland.
“We only made eight three point shots against Wisconsin and we only shot 16”, said McDermott. “We don’t have to shoot threes to be successful. We will take open threes and stay confident but we also have to understand that we have some guys who can attack the basket.”
Creighton (6-0) is up two spots to tenth in the latest Associated Press Poll and one of the key has been the play of redshirt freshman center Justin Patton. The Omaha native scored 17 points in Saturday’s win and is shooting better than 77 percent from the field.
“He is so much more prepared not just physically but mentally”, added McDermott. “He is certainly not there yet but he had made tremendous strides.”
Buffalo (4-2) is coming off a 74-72 win Saturday against Weber State.
