A woman died in a central Nebraska car crash Thanksgiving day after the driver swerved to miss a deer, lost control of the car, ran into a ditch, hit an embankment, causing the car to roll.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports 56-year-old Becky Millard of Sargent died in the crash Thanksgiving afternoon on U.S. Highway 183. Millard was a passenger in the vehicle.
According to NSP, 48-year-old Virgil Ramsdell of Taylor was driving north on Highway 183 when a deer ran onto the road about 10 miles north of Sargent in northeastern Custer County. Millard was the only passenger in the vehicle. Neither Millard nor Ramsdell were wearing seat belts, according to NSP.
