Tai Webster’s runner at the buzzer fell short as Nebraska lost at Clemson 60-58 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
“We just had to try and make a play”, said Nebraska coach Tim Miles. “Tai got in there in a little bit of an awkward and tough two and sat it on the rim. It just did not go in.”
With 2.8 seconds left, the Huskers had the ball at midcourt and got the ball to Webster, who drive to the foul line, but the ball rolled off allowing the Tigers to escape with a 2-point victory.
The Huskers led 31-27 at halftime but the Tigers rallied by making five of six from three point range in the second half. Nebraska only connected on four of 18 from three point range.
“If we could control the defensive end we were going to control the outcome and that was my thought”, added Miles. “When they got the offensive rebounds and made those four threes in the second half off of a loose ball and three offensive rebounds that was critical.”
Glynn Watson Jr. led Nebraska with 20 points. The Huskers fall to 4-3.
