Tennessee has gone to work fixing its run defense as the Volunteers prepare to take on Nebraska in the Music City Bowl December 30 in Nashville. The Vols rank 111th in the nation against the run and gave up an average of just over 351 yards on the ground in their final three games.
“I thing right now is the perfect time because we have time to correct and dive into it”, said Tennessee senior defensive lineman LaTroy Lewis. “We have time to play with schemes and make sure our fundamentals are sound.”
The Vols entered the season ranked ninth in the Associated Press Poll but fell out of contention in the SEC with three straight mid-season losses. They finished the regular season 8-4 and Lewis says the bowl game gives them to end the season with a win.
“Our attitude has been to get healthy and finish.”
