Winners of 13 straight games the Concordia women’s basketball team has climbed to second in the latest NAIA Division II Poll. The Bulldogs are 13-1 overall and sit at the top of the Great Plains Athletic Conference race with a record of 8-0.
“It’s nice but rankings don’t really mean a whole lot to us”, said Concordia coach Drew Olson. “We know that in the GPAC if you finish in the top four you are definitely going to be one of the best teams in the country and go to the national tournament. We also want to win the conference and we have that possibility this year.”
Pressure defense has been a key for the Bulldogs . Opponents are averaging more turnovers (28) per game than made field goals (20).
“Our kids are playing at a really high level, especially on the defensive end”, added Olson. “This is probably one of the best defensive teams I have ever had.”
The Bulldogs return to action Friday night with a visit to Dordt of Iowa before closing out the pre Christmas portion of their schedule with a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii for games against Indiana Tech and the College of the Ozarks.
