The top seeded Nebraska volleyball team is two wins from a second straight national title and fifth in school history. The Huskers take on a Texas team Thursday night in Columbus, Ohio, they beat in last years championship match in Omaha and swept during the opening weekend of this season in Eugene , Oregon.
“Texas is Texas and they have got dynamic athletes”, said Nebraska coach John Cook. “They were in the national championship last year so it is round two or round three or how many times we have played them.”
Nebraska is 31-2 after posting wins over Penn State at last week’s regional in Lincoln. Cook believes this Husker team is better than the one that captured the national title last year.
“The Big Ten was definitely tougher this year than it was last year”, added Cook. “We have had to raise our level to compete and win that conference so I think this group has raised their level a little bit from last year.”
The first of two national semifinals on Thursday night pits second seeded Minnesota against sixth seeded Stanford.
