Nebraska coach Tim Miles said he could not think of a word beyond disappointment that he did not have his team ready to play. The Huskers made only 3-of-17 from three point range and were outscored 42-32 in the second half of play in a 70-62 loss at home to Gardner-Webb. It was Nebraska’s sixth loss in the last seven games.
“I would have never dreamt in five years this is where we would be losing to Gardner-Webb”, said Miles. “Not to discredit Gardner-Webb but we are not where we should be.”
The Huskers shot only 39 percent for the game and also committed 20 turnovers in falling to 5-6. Tai Webster led Nebraska with 17 points. Tyrell Nelson led Gardner-Webb with 25 points as the Runnin’ Bulldogs improve to 7-5.
“Just proud of our players to give a great effort on the road, to beat what I feel is a really good team who’s played an unbelievable schedule.”, says Gardner-Webb coach Tim Craft. ” I thought we guarded them well and gave ourselves a chance to win the game. We made enough plays down the stretch to get a win.”
