Two Nebraska residents have received pardons from President Barack Obama.
Obama pardoned Heidi Schmidt of Denton for a 2004 drug crime. Obama also pardoned Shari Tompke of Grand Island, also convicted of a drug crime.
Obama pardoned a total of 78 people on Monday.
The White House also released information that the president commuted the sentences of 153 others convicted of federal crimes, the single largest granting of clemencies in a single day by a president.
Under presidential order, a total of 148 people have received pardons with 1,176 getting shorter sentences. Most were convicted of drug crimes.
Schmidt had been sentenced to 30 months in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. Trompke had been sentenced to three years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
