Freshman Jeriah Horne came off the bench to score 18 points, including four-of-six from three point range as Nebraskae held off Southern 81-76 in Pinnacle Bank Arena. Horne had only scored a total of 14 points in the first 11 games of the season.
“I credit his patience”, said Husker coach Tim Miles. “We played small so we got outrebounded but he got them back in bunches. We still have to figure out where he fits in the rotation but I was very proud of him”
It was a much needed win for the Huskers, who had dropped six of their last seven games. Nebraska is 6-6 and will open Big Ten play December 28 at Indiana.
