Nebraska offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf says there is no set date that senior quarterback Tommy Armstrong must return to practice to play in the December 30 Music City Bowl against Tennessee. Armstrong has not participated in bowl practice as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Ryker Fyfe is working with the first unit.
“I don’t think we can take it to the day before the game”, said Langsdorf. “We are planning on Ryker playing right now and until we get different information that is the way we have been practicing.”
Fyfe is dealing with an injury of his own. He suffered a broken left wrist in the game he started against Maryland and is wearing a protective brace. He has yet to take a snap under center.
Husker linebacker Michael Rose-Ivey says Armstrong is doing everything he can to get back.
“I definitely feel for him”, said Rose-Ivey. “He is a guy that has put in the work. Tommy is a competitor and that is what you always appreciate.”
