A 14-month-old baby boy found unresponsive in a Lincoln foster home December 22nd has died.
Lincoln police report the boy, who has not been identified, died after being treated at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha where he was transported after Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to the home and took the baby to a local hospital. Rescue crews performed CPR at the scene.
The names of the foster parents have not been released. They have been licensed foster care providers for the past four years, caring for a number of children.
Lincoln police have released little on the incident. The investigation continues. It will include working with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
Nebraska Health and Human Services spokesman Russ Reno tells Nebraska Radio Network affiliate KLIN that the baby’s death is a tragic situation and their hearts go out to the family. Reno says that DHHS will cooperate with law enforcement in the investigation.
