The state patrol is asking for potential witnesses to speak up after a young woman was hit and killed in the Panhandle over the holiday weekend.
The body of 20-year-old Angelica Olvera was found along Highway 26 in Scotts Bluff County near Minatare on Sunday morning.
Investigators believe the Gering woman was hit as she walked along the road around three o’clock that same morning.
It’s not believed Olvera was struck intentionally and troopers are asking for witnesses — or the driver — to come forward.
The vehicle would have damage to the front passenger side, including the headlight assembly.
Olvera’s family has set up a Go Fund Me account to help pay for the funeral and other expenses.
