A former worker at the Beatrice State Developmental Center, accused abusing a resident, has been placed on probation.
Gage County District Judge Daniel Bryan placed 37-year-old Shawn Ebeling of Diller on probation, including 50 hours of community service.
“I looked at your record,” Bryan told Ebeling during his court appearance. “Your record is an excellent record. I looked at the fact that the county attorney had a felony in this case and reduced it down to an attempt, which is recommending of probation in this case which tells me that they have looked at the facts with law enforcement as set out here by the state patrol’s information and they feel that this justifies probation.”
Ebeling’s attorney told Bryan Ebeling knows what he did “crossed the line.”
As for Ebeling, he had little to say during his court appearance.
“I’m never going to step foot in this courtroom again after you’re done with me and I just want to try to move on,” Ebeling told Bryan.
Ebeling was arrested in September of 2015 following an abuse investigation at BSDC.
