Creighton senior guard Maurice Watson announced he will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. Watson injured his knee in the first half of the seventh ranked Bluejays’ 72-67 win at 19th ranked Xavier on Monday afternoon.
He made the announcement via social media.
“Sucks that I have to go out this way, but I have terrible news,” said Watson. “My MRI discovered I suffered a torn ACL. I’m devastated in the fact that I cannot finish out this season with my boys and that my college career is cut short during the best basketball I’ve ever played in my life.”
Watson was the nation’s leader in assists and was averaging nearly 13 points and eight and a half assists for a Creighton team that is 18-1 for the first time in school history.
