One person has died, another has been injured in a wreck in southwest Omaha when a driver ran a red light this morning.
Omaha police report an eastbound sedan collided with a southbound pick-up at an intersection.
Police say 40-year-old Mitzi McCoy of Omaha, the driver of the sedan, is being treated at at Nebraska Medicine for a head injury, broken leg, broken ribs, fractured pelvis, and a number of minor injuries. A passenger, 34-year-old Katrina Olson of Gretna, died at the scene.
The driver of the pick-up refused medical attention.
According to the police report, McCoy was driving east on Q Street shortly after 6:30 this morning when she ran a red light at the intersection of 168th. The pick-up ran into the driver’s side of the car.
The investigation into the crash continues.
