Unemployment in Nebraska remains the same at 3.4%.
The Nebraska Department of Labor has announced the preliminary unemployment rate for December was unchanged from the November rate.
“December saw an over-the-year increase in nonfarm employment and was the 10th consecutive month in which nonfarm employment topped 1 million,” said Commissioner of Labor John Albin in a written statement released by the department. “Employment in trade, transportation and utilities reached a new high in December.”
Nonfarm employment grew by 8,194 over the year. Private sectors with the most growth in 2016 included professional and business services…transportation and utilities…and leisure and hospitality.
Nationally, the unemployment rate stands at 4.7%.
