A member of the Winnebago Tribe has been sentenced 20 years in federal prison after being convicted of shooting at another vehicle during a high speed chase near Winnebago last year.
Federal prosecutors say the incident took place after 24-year-old Anthony Whitewater got into a fight at a party in Winnebago. Whitewater was kicked out of the party in May of last year and vowed to return.
Whitewater returned in a car driven by his brother, 27-year-old Marcus Blackhawk, and began pursuit of a vehicle leaving the party, mistakenly believing it was being driven by the person with whom he had fought. He fired several shots at the car, hitting it seven times. No one in the car was injured.
Blackhawk received a prison sentence of 10 years.
