The Nebraska baseball team is motivated by post season failures of 2016. After finishing second in the Big Ten and 37-18 overall the Huskers bats went cold as they dropped four post season games, including two straight in an NCAA Regional in which they tallied only one run.
“We were playing very, very well up to that point”, said Nebraska coach Darin Erstad. “Who gets hot with the bat is going to advance and unfortunately we went ice cold.”
Pitching should be a strength as the Huskers return all three weekend starters from last season.
“One thing we are definitely going to do this year is we are going to maximize our best pitchers and utilize them as much as we can.”
The season opener is February 17 in Tempe, Arizona against UC-Riverside.
