Nebraska will play the first Division One softball game of the season Thursday morning when the Huskers takes on BYU. It is part of the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Mexico.
Nebraska will play four ranked teams in the tournament, including Friday games against Oklahoma and Auburn.
“Oklahoma won the national championship last year and they played Auburn in the three game series”, said Nebraska coach Rhonda Revelle. “BYU we faced in regionals and were fortunate to win that game. Every team in that tournament is ranked or receiving votes so it is going to be a tough tournament.”
With just two starting position players returning from last year’s team that made it to an NCAA Regional Revelle admits there are a lot of question marks.
“Here is what I do know. We are going to come back a better team”, added Revelle. “Regardless or the record or the scores you can’t face competition like that and not have the competition make you better. We are really looking forward to that.”
Nebraska will close out the tournament on Saturday against Washington.
