Parity has been a word used to describe this season’s Big Ten basketball race. That has not applied to Wisconsin. The seventh ranked Badgers are dominating the league race and take a 9-1 record into a game against Nebraska in Pinnacle Bank Arena Thursday night .
The Huskers have dropped seven of their last eight games and coach Tim Miles says his team needs a big effort.
“You have to beat Wisconsin”, said Miles. “You don’t have to beat everybody. If you look at the recipe for winning the first thing you do is eliminate losing. Not against these guys. You have to eliminate losing. You have to take away their strengths and you still have to have your players making plays.”
Wisconsin’s success over the years has started with defense and Miles says this team is no different. The Badgers lead the Big Ten by giving up just over 60 points per game.
“They are not going to let anything easy at the rim”, added Miles. “They don’t give up a lot of threes and they make you take tough shots.”
The Huskers are 2-7 against Wisconsin since joining the Big Ten and the teams split a pair of meetings last season. Wisconsin won the regular season meeting 72-61 in Madison, while the Huskers earned a 12-point win in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament.
