The typical town hall meeting with members of Congress has taken a different turn. Lawmakers are on recess this week and back in their home states. They have been met by protesters and hecklers in the crowds and are not happy with the answers given.
U.S. Senator Ben Sasse attended the Munich Security Conference but has been back in Nebraska for a few days. He says, “I had a full week planned that has been planned for about a month. None of them are what you would generically call a town hall but I’ve done tons of stuff. We’ve been speaking in schools and at the chamber of commerce and done public and private meetings with different groups that are all over the political spectrum.”
Sasse says those groups included a climate change lobby and different medical provider groups. He says he also had the opportunity to spend time with his family and attended sporting events with his children.
