A 40-year-old Kearney man has died after crashing his car while fleeing a state trooper on I-80.
The York County Attorney’s Office reports Anthony Emmons died after crashing into a median guard rail just east of York early Monday evening.
According to authorities, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper investigating a report of reckless driving approached Emmons at an I-80 rest area. Emmons fled the rest area. The trooper began the pursuit.
An autopsy has been ordered. A grand jury will be convened to investigate the death. State law requires a grand jury investigation anytime someone dies in police custody or during a police pursuit.
