A Nebraska businessman has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for violating the Clean Air Act by not getting required permits.
59-year-old Patrick Keough of Seward will serve a year of supervised release after serving half a year in prison.
Federal prosecutors say Keough continued to operate his business in Shelton, America’s Fiberglass Animals, without a construction permit and fabric filters despite a determination by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality that he needed both under the Clean Air Act. Keough moved the business to Minden without advising NDEQ and without securing the required permit. The business kept operating without fabric filters.
America’s Fiberglass Animals uses gel coats and paints which can cause pollution to manufacture fiberglass animals.
The Environmental Protection Agency investigated the case. NDEQ assisted with the investigation.
