Visitors to Omaha during the College World Series, concerts or other big events downtown may be familiar with the Omaha Police Department’s Mounted Patrol. The pickup used to transport the horse trailer was a 1993 Ford with more than 100,000 miles on it. Today, the First Responders Foundation presented the mounted patrol with a new pickup to transport the horses. Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert is grateful for their help.
Stothert says, “Today, we gratefully accept the foundation’s donation to our Mounted Patrol team. The unit has a tremendous role in our community by providing enforcement, traffic control and great public relations. Who can resist posing for a picture with a mounted patrol officer on his horse.”
Stothert says Omaha is very fortunate to have partners that share a commitment to public safety . Since 1990 the First Responders Foundation donated much needed items to the police and fire department totaling just under $2-million.
