Spring drills resume for the Nebraska football team next week and so does the installation of a new 3-4 scheme on defense under coordinator Bob Diaco. Veteran assistant Bob Elliott is coaching the Husker safeties and he has been pleased with the progress.
“It is overwhelming for the guys right now”, said Elliott. “We have a lot in already but you have got to keep pushing and they will do fine. We have got some smart players on defense.”
Elliott joined the staff after spending five years at Notre Dame and has been impressed with the attitude in practice.
“I think there is great spirit on the team and the competition can only be good for us”, added Elliott. “To have big time competition on the practice field makes us better on both sides of the ball.”
The Huskers will be back in action for spring practice on Tuesday, March 28. Nebraska’s annual Red-White Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 15 at Memorial Stadium.
