Private jets are arriving at Eppley Airfield and hotel rooms are full for the annual Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder’s weekend in Omaha. Tens of thousands of investors are expected to attend the annual event at the CenturyLink Center on Saturday.
Noah Buhayar with Bloomberg News is attending the event and says Warren Buffett will be answering a lot of questions at that meeting. He expects Buffett will be asked about the IBM issue. He says people have been wondering about that investment made back in 2011 and people will want to hear his thoughts on that. Buhayar says, “For a lot of shareholders it will be about businesses that Berkshire owns outright. You’ve got everything from Tyco to BNSF. They are going to be looking for indications on how those businesses are doing.”
Shopping is a big part of the weekend and Berkshire owned businesses in Omaha expect a lot of foot traffic. Upwards of 20,000 people are expected at a reception today at Borsheims Jewelry at Regency Court. They will also head over to Nebraska Furniture Mart to cash in on some big sales in progress. Many shareholders will also head to Gorat’s Steakhouse, one of Buffett’s favorite places to dine. They are planning to serve up 1,500 pounds of steaks this weekend alone.
