Nebraska begins the week in first place in the Big Ten baseball race. Luis Alvarado’s single in the bottom of the ninth scored Scott Schrieber as the Huskers walked off with a 7-6 win over Rutgers to complete a sweep of their three game series. It was the Huskers first walk-off win since March first of 2016 and coupled with Maryland’s loss to Illinois moved the Huskers to the top of the standings.
Nebraska returns to action Wednesday with a game against Creighton at Wernker Park.
“It will be a great matchup and hopefully we will get some decent weather”, said Husker coach Darin Erstad. “We will let these guys rest up and we won’t talk to them until Tuesday. They have a well deserved rest after grinding it out for a whole semester of school.”
Nebraska is 12-5-1 in the league race and 29-16-1 overall.
