There is sadness in the halls of Ralston Public Schools after two prominent staff members passed away this week. Former Board of Education member Dee Huff passed away after battling cancer and Ralston Middle School music teacher Marty Frye died of a sudden illness.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Adler says, “Just one of those is enough to rock a close-knit community so two in one week is a lot to handle. We have extra counselors on hand across the district and I will tell your our students are hurting and our staff are hurting. They are using those services and we are really working hard to honor those people but try to move forward the best we can.”
Dr. Adler says both were incredible educators in different ways. Frye was a beloved instrumental music teacher at Ralston High School for over a decade and was currently serving the middle school.
Dr. Adler says Dee Huff was a wonderful public servant. She was known as “Ms. Dee” at Ralston’s Baright Public Library for fifteen years and was on their board of education from 2011 to 2014.
Funeral services for Huff are planned for Friday. Services for Frye are pending.
